While developing the Mitre Maker we prototyped a number of clamps, stops, knobs and other accessories (such as a GoPro mount for the Mitre Maker) using a 3D printer.
One of these prototypes turned out to be perfect for holding the nuts in place while installing or removing the Mitre Maker fence or fence extension. A traditional socket head is unlikely to fit in the narrow slot of the aluminium fence, so we designed a 3D-printable one instead. The 3D-printed fence removal tool fits snugly inside the aluminium fence, allowing the nuts to be held securely and lifted easily from the slot.
This fence removal tool is included with any packages that may require you to replace or extend the Mitre Maker fence (Pro Pack, Extension Kit and Interlocking Mitre Kit). And the model files for the fence removal tool are available for anyone who wants to modify and print their own unique tool.
Below is a time lapse video of the fence removal tool being printed on our 3D printer.
